3 Rowan gardening

3 Rowan really enjoyed their gardening workshop with Mr Smith, our resident gardener. The children were learning about how seeds travel away from their mother tree. The class were split into three teams, each one representing a different type of seed dispersal: exploding seeds (like geranium seeds); flying seeds (like sycamore seeds); and sticky seeds (like burdock seeds). Using balloons, paper aeroplanes and Velcro, the teams took part in the ‘Seed Olympics’, where they competed for the furthest travelling seed. The children thoroughly enjoyed the competition, as well as learning some fascinating facts about seeds!
