Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

This week, 2 Willow travelled back to the year of 1606 to learn about The Gunpowder Plot and why bonfire night is celebrated. The children really enjoyed acting out the plot and imagining the conversations that were had during that time. We discussed lots of important themes including fairness, freedom and punishment. They then wrote a piece of advice to give King James. Should Guy Fawkes be punished? Could King James treat his people better? The children were very passionate and put forward their advice in a class debate, practising their fantastic oracy skills.
