Somers Town Sinfonia is an orchestra made up of children from four primary schools local to the Somers Town area of Camden, joined by Camden music tutors and musicians from the Young Persons Concert Foundation. Six of our Year 5 musicians represented our school in the orchestra this summer term, rehearsing every Tuesday after school at Regent High School.
The children worked hard to master some challenging music on the violin and recorder, from Stravinsky’s ‘Rite of Spring’ and ‘The Firebird Suite’ to an orchestral arrangement of Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’. The project finale was a fabulous concert in Regent Theatre attended by many friends, family and school staff. We are very proud of our six performers – Ameer, Darya, Dinah, Dominika, Jeremy and Nihal -who showed great effort, determination and confidence and were shining stars throughout the project and final performance.
