Year 2 enjoyed learning about viruses during a visit from a Crick Institute scientist as part of Science Week. The scientist showed the children pictures of different types of viruses and they used microscopes to examine the carpet and their hair! The children learned how easily viruses are spread during a demonstration where the scientist covered her hands in glitter then shook hands with the children, and they then shook hands with each other. The children were amazed to see how widely the glitter spread and this has encouraged them to wash their hands more regularly and thoroughly from now on!
