Year 5 have been learning all about Anglo-Saxon life. One “way in” to enjoying their learning is to read the dramatic story of Beowulf and his battles against Grendel, the blood-thirsty swamp-dwelling ogre.
In these pieces of writing, the classes imagine what it must have been like to celebrate King Hrothgar’s victories with him in his great hall, known as Heorot. This persuasive writing invites us to wonder how the warriors must have felt to receive such a special invitation.
The classes have made an excellent effort to produce such good quality writing. Their word choices make sure they entertain the reader and their presentation is superb.
