Code Club Kicks Off at Richard Cobden Primary School!
Brace yourselves, Richard Cobden Primary—Code Club is back, and this year, we’re bringing more programming puns than you can shake a Microbit at! A massive high-five goes out to our amazing Google London volunteers—Borja, Dima, Nicolas, Berkant, and Mihail—who’ve chosen our school for yet another year of coding fun. You could say they really clicked with us! And of course, a huge shoutout to our Year 5 and 6 students who’ve decided to byte into the world of coding every Tuesday afternoon. We’re sure that with some of the best programmers in the world as their guides, they’ll be debugging like pros in no time!
Our first session was all about Microbits, which we learned are basically pocket-sized computers—like having a whole PC in your hand but without all the ram-bling. The children got the hang of how inputs and outputs work, even if they couldn’t resist asking if the Microbit would output some snacks😊 (spoiler: it won’t). Then, they put their coding skills to the test by creating simple programs to make the tiny screen show a picture, play a sound, or display a message—though we assured them that "send homework to teacher" is not a feature.
Enjoy the photos from our first session, and get ready for more coding as our programmers continue their journey!
